Marie Patricia Neroulas
Marie passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at home on December 5, 2025. Marie is pre-deceased by her husband, Dennis a.k.a. Sakis Neroulas, sister Deidre (Ken) Jordan, brother John (Louise) McGivern, and parents Mary and John McGivern. She is survived by her children Christine Hadley, John Neroulas, and Nicole Neroulas, son-in- law Michael Hadley, daughter-in law Elizabeth Neroulas; and grandchildren Julia, Denny, and Dillon Neroulas, and Evan and Sophia Hadley, plus many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving canine grandogs Steely and Luna.
Marie was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1944. At six years old, she moved with her mother and siblings to join father John McGivern, who had spent two years establishing a good life for his wife and children in Brooklyn, NY. Marie spent her childhood, teen years, and most of her 20s in Brooklyn attending Catholic schools and graduating from high school. In 1969 she went on a cruise to Bermuda with friends and their waiter was Dennis from Greece. He asked her to go dancing and told her at the end of the week that he would marry her. She believed in love and after two years of letters, visits and phone calls, she followed her heart to Greece. Marie and Dennis married in 1971. They spent 53 years together, moving to Flatbush, Brooklyn, then Commack, NY, where they spent most of their life. Their homes were known for the warmth, good food, and love they shared whenever anyone entered.
Marie was a stay-at-home mom for many years, until 1986 when she entered the work force again. She spent 20 years at Chemical Bank, now known as Chase Bank, as an Executive Secretary. Marie made many lifelong friends there and was proud of her career. After retiring, she and Dennis took great joy in their grandchildren, watching them so their parents could work. She loved them with all her heart, and was so happy to be a part of their lives.
Marie was a vibrant and amazing woman right up until the day she passed. She made her loved ones and friends feel at ease and offered her wise advice. Marie had an infectious laugh and loved to be around people. She had a knack for conversation and made friends instantly. She will be dearly missed by all.
